Royal Mail sucks

04.01.11 – emails from Play.com arrive announcing “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “Doctor Who: Meglos” (I have varying tastes) DVDs have been dispatched.

Great, might be with me in time for the weekend.

08.01.11 – no DVDs in the post. Oh well, they’ll arrive Monday I expect.

10.01.11 – no DVDs in the post. Oh well, they may arrive tomorrow…

11.01.11 – no DVDs in the post. Oh well, they may arrive tomorrow…

12.01.11 – no DVDs in the post. Oh well, they may arrive tomorrow…

13.01.11 – “The Girl Who Played With Fire” arrives. No “Doctor Who: Meglos”. Oh well, that may arrive tomorrow…

14.01.11 – No “Doctor Who: Meglos” in the post. Oh well, that may arrive tomorrow…

15.01.11 – “Doctor Who: Meglos” arrives.

9 days and 11 days respectively for 2 DVDs to make their way through the British postal network??? Yeap, I’m now on board with those crying out that Royal Mail is well and truly fucked up.

I’m sorry but I have to agree.
Royal mail service is appalling, and has been for many years.

In fact since they scrapped the 2nd post there have been no end of problems, from getting the wrong post, correctly addressed; getting post for completely different roads; not getting any post in the whole street; post coming soaking wet and damaged; different postmen every few months; the list goes on.

I know it is mostly down to profit-over-service, but the postmen do their fair share of fuckups too.

Hey, take it steady! My other half works as a postie and I have to say that the lads and ladies that get up before the crack of dawn work incredibly hard to get our mail out to us and you have to give them some respect for the hard work that they do. Having said that however I do have to agree that the service seems to have gone down hill rapidly over the latter half of 2010. From the bits and pieces that I hear from my good postie other half it seems that the problems are down to the cutbacks and bureaucracy the managers and head office peeps seem to think is necessary. Grumbles over.
